Are You a Young Changemaker for the Ocean? Join the Youth4Ocean Forum

Author: Black Sea Assistance Mechanism

The Youth4Ocean Forum is a European community for young people aged 16 to 30 who want to take action for the ocean. Supported by the European Commission as part of the EU4Ocean Coalition, the Forum brings together students, researchers, activists, young professionals, educators and ocean enthusiasts from across Europe to connect, learn, collaborate and contribute to a healthier future for our seas and coasts.

For young people in the Black Sea region, this is an opportunity to engage with a broader European movement, gain visibility for local ocean initiatives and connect with peers working on shared challenges across sea basins.

What Does the Forum Offer?

By joining the Youth4Ocean Forum, members gain access to a growing network of over 500 young people engaged in ocean-related topics and initiatives. Members receive information on relevant calls, events, workshops and campaigns, can share their projects and ideas through Forum communication channels, and have access to mentoring and guidance to develop their work further. The Forum is open to participants at all stages, from those just starting out to those already leading initiatives. No previous experience is required for general membership.

How to Get Involved

Joining is straightforward. Applicants complete a short online form, indicate their areas of interest and how they wish to participate, and once onboarded can immediately begin engaging with the community. For those wishing to take a more active role, the Forum also offers routes including the EU Young Ocean Advocates programme and a dedicated mentorship scheme.

The Youth4Ocean Forum is part of the wider EU4Ocean Coalition, which also encompasses the EU4Ocean Platform and the Network of European Blue Schools, all working together to make the ocean a concern for everyone.
