Description

The European Commission is convening a high-profile conference to accelerate the energy transition of the EU’s fisheries and aquaculture sectors on 17 February 2026 in Brussels. Organised by DG MARE under the Energy Transition Partnership (ETP) framework, Navigating Change: Towards the Energy Transition in EU Fisheries and Aquaculture marks a key milestone in shaping the future of these vital maritime industries.

Coming two years after the launch of the ETP following the 2023 Commission Communication on energy transition, this one-day high-level event will bring together policymakers, sector leaders, industry stakeholders, advisory bodies, and representatives from the European Council, European Parliament and EU Member States. The conference will present the latest ETP recommendations and support a shared vision for an energy-efficient, competitive, and climate-neutral future for fisheries and aquaculture across the EU.

Discussions will centre on both technical and strategic pathways to decarbonisation, reflecting broad stakeholder consultation and building towards the EU’s upcoming Energy Transition Roadmap.

When: 17 February 2026, 08:30–17:00 CET
