Description
The 3rd International Joint Conference MARBLUE 2026 will take place from 27 to 29 October 2026 in Constanța, Romania. It is organised by a consortium of leading scientific institutions: the National Institute for Marine Research and Development "Grigore Antipa" (NIMRD), the National Institute of Marine Geology and Geoecology (GeoEcoMar), Ovidius University of Constanța (UOC) and Mare Nostrum NGO. The conference brings together scientists, researchers, policymakers and environmental organisations to address ecological challenges and sustainable development priorities in the Black Sea basin.
About the Event
Under the theme Blue Growth: Challenges and Opportunities for the Black Sea, MARBLUE 2026 provides a high-level regional platform for advancing scientific knowledge, strengthening cooperation and supporting evidence-based policymaking. Participants will engage in discussions on marine research, biodiversity, sustainable resource use, marine geology, maritime spatial planning and ocean literacy.
The conference welcomes contributions from across the Black Sea community. Attendees may participate as presenters by submitting abstracts for oral or poster sessions, or as participants and expert observers contributing to panel discussions and thematic exchanges.
Why Participate
MARBLUE 2026 offers a space for regional cooperation, scientific dialogue and the exchange of project results and research findings. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the Black Sea community and contribute to discussions that support evidence-based approaches to marine and coastal challenges.
Scientific Tracks
The conference program is organised into six thematic scientific sessions covering oceanography, biodiversity, sustainable resource use, marine geology, maritime spatial planning and ocean literacy. These sessions address topics such as observing systems in the Black Sea, conservation of marine ecosystems, sustainable resource management, coastal and deltaic planning and approaches to ocean education. They provide a structured framework for presenting research and facilitating thematic discussions across the Black Sea scientific community.
Call for Abstracts and Registration
Researchers, project teams and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts for original research, project overviews and case studies. All deadlines, templates and registration details are available at www.marblue.ro, where updates on submission procedures will be published.
