OCEAN-05: Digital Twin Ocean

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals under Horizon Europe's Mission "Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030", supporting the development of regional sea-basin components of the EU Digital Twin Ocean.

Why This Matters

The Digital Twin Ocean is a virtual representation of Europe's marine and freshwater environments, designed to integrate large volumes of data and simulate the effects of human activities on ecosystems. Developing regional components for specific sea basins, including the Black Sea, which falls within the Danube–Black Sea lighthouse area, will provide decision-makers, researchers and coastal communities with powerful tools for real-time monitoring, predictive analysis and sustainable ocean management.

Who Should Apply?

Consortia of research institutions, technology providers, marine data organisations, public authorities and other relevant stakeholders are invited to apply. Proposals should demonstrate strong data integration capacity and clear links to existing EU data infrastructures such as EMODnet.
