Author: Black Sea Assistance Mechanism

Romania has accepted the role of Coordinator to lead the implementation of the Common Maritime Agenda (CMA) for the Black Sea region in 2023. Romania will now set its implementation plan, coordinate and organise regional events and activities.

Representatives of Romania will build on the success of previous actions, while prioritising regional cooperation. The focus of the Romanian CMA Coordinator for 2023 is environmental protection, blue economy entrepreneurship and blue skills. Romania will also continue to identify opportunities for action and alignment with the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for the Black Sea (SRIA).

The CMA Presidency will also ensure closer coordination with INTERREG NEXT Black Sea Programme and the EU Mission Ocean and its Danube lighthouse.
