Regional Webinar on Supporting the Common Maritime Agenda Priorities with Research and Innovation towards Cultivating the Potential for Blue Entrepreneurship

The panel aimed at strengthening the links between the implementation of the Common Maritime Agenda (CMA) for the Black Sea and its scientific pillar the Black Sea Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (Black Sea SRIA). This is a first step towards assessing the Research and Innovation (R&I) needs of the priority sectors defined by the Regional Stakeholders Conference of the CMA 2020 that took place on 10 December 2020.
Plenary Session 1: Best Practices from sea basins SRIAs and contribution to CMA priorities on entrepreneurial environment
The first panel focused on best practices of innovation-driven business acceleration as addressed by other EU sea basin strategies such as, WestMed Initiative and the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0.
As part of the presentations, we had the perspectives of:
- Patrizio Mariani Technical University of Denmark - Mapping and assessing present and future status of Atlantic marine ecosystems under multiple stressors
Plenary Session 2: Roundtable on defining the sectoral research and innovation needs for businesses and potential synergies between research and the blue economy entrepreneurial environment
The second panel session was devoted to gathering corporate viewpoints. Thanks to participation from business stakeholders from the seven CMA nations, it received comments and insight on the R&I needs within these three Blue Economy sectors.

The third panel aimed to have an interactive conversation about how to deepen the ties between the Black Sea Common Maritime Agenda and its scientific pillar, the Black Sea Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (Black Sea SRIA).
