Public consultation launched - Update of the EU maritime security strategy and its action plan

Author: Black Sea Assistance Mechanism

The EU has launched a public consultation on the update of its Maritime Security Strategy and its Action Plan. Do not hesitate to share your views by 8 September under this link!

The 2014 EU maritime security strategy and its revised action plan (2018) still remain valid. However, an assessment showed they should:

  • be aligned with other major EU policies and instruments, including the EU’s ‘Strategic Compass’
  • address the evolving maritime security challenges in the current complex geopolitical context, as well as climate change and environmental degradation.

This initiative will update the strategy and its action plan, in line with the June 2021 Council Conclusions.

This public consultation is now open. Your input will be taken into account as EC further develop and fine-tune this initiative. EC will summarise the input they receive in a synopsis report, explaining how they have taken it into account. Feedback received will be published on this site and therefore must adhere to the feedback rules.

The feedback and consultation period is open between 16 June 2022 - 08 September 2022 (midnight Brussels time) and Commission adoption is planned for first quarter of 2023.
