Across the Atlantic, the Western Mediterranean, and the Black Sea, the EU’s Sea Basin Strategies Assistance Mechanism is working to advance a more sustainable and resilient blue economy. Each region faces distinct opportunities and challenges, yet they share a common ambition: to foster long-term maritime growth that supports both people and the planet.
To enhance their impact, there is growing momentum for deeper collaboration and shared learning among the strategies. By identifying overlapping priorities and aligning actions, the Sea Basin Strategies can better respond to the EU’s evolving policy landscape and deliver more coordinated solutions.
Facilitating this process, the Sea Basins Assistance Mechanism plays a key role in promoting dialogue and building connections across the regions.
Exploring Common Ground at EMD 2025
This year’s European Maritime Day will once again feature a high-level panel dedicated to inter-basin cooperation. Scheduled for 23 May 2025, the session will examine progress to date, highlight practical examples of synergy, and consider what is needed to deepen collaboration between sea basin strategies moving forward. Building on the success of last year’s discussion, this exchange promises to offer valuable insights into the future of integrated maritime cooperation.
